Ericsson - Internship - NTN Digital Twin (F/H)

Type de poste:

Stage

Description

About this opportunity: Ericsson is building a new R&D team in Massy, France, covering many cutting-edge technologies such as AI/ML, cloud, and 5G advanced/6G technologies. Within this new lab, Standards & Technology unit, is part of Development Unit Network’s global Standards & Technology organization. At Development Unit Networks, Standards & Technology secure technology leadership in Radio Access Networks (RAN) by actively driving New Concepts, Standardization, SW- and HW Research, Architecture and Testbeds. Technical focus includes 5G evolution, IoT, Digital twins, Automation / Machine Learning and Security. As a part of this new young and talented team of researchers, we are looking for motivated interns that will help us grow and engage in our activities on non-terrestrial networks. Mobile communication over NTN has drawn a lot of attention in both academia and in the industry, as it has been a focus area in 3GPP since Rel-15 and is considered a native feature of future 6G specifications. For the moment, attention is given to satellite communications and, more specifically, low earth orbit (LEO) deployments, which provide a relative better link budget compared to medium (MEO) and geostationary (GEO) earth orbit constellations. In this internship we are looking for talented students to help us in the data collection, visualization, and interpretation of various NTN system metrics (e.g., throughput, latency, link quality, reliability, handover rates, etc.) related to our NTN proof-of-concept end-to-end platform. Additionally, a digital twin 3D representation of the NTN system (satellite, gateway, user equipment, orbit, hand-over, etc.) is also an expected outcome of the internship. What will you do: - Secure Remote Access and Data Retrieval: - Manage secure remote access using SSH and advanced key pairs. - Transfer large datasets efficiently using SFTP and Rsync. Lab Environment Navigation and Data Extraction: - Proficient in Linux command-line and Bash scripting. - Process data using tools like awk, sed, and perl. - Access remote file systems using NFS and SSHFS. Observability Data Acquisition and Processing: - Integrate and manage logging systems using the ELK Stack. - Collect metrics using Prometheus and OpenTelemetry. - Develop custom dashboards in Grafana. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): - Measure and analyze latency, link quality, and throughput. - Track NTN-specific metrics like Doppler shift and beam handover rates. Advanced Data Analysis and Interpretation: - Perform statistical analysis and machine learning for NTN data. - Use Python tools like NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn. - Create visualizations using Plotly and Bokeh. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: - Use tools like Iperf3 and custom ping implementations. - Analyze protocols using Wireshark and tshark. Version Control and Documentation: - Manage experiments using Git and Git LFS. - Document experiments using Jupyter notebooks. Interactive 3D digital twin: - Representation of key components of the NTN environment such as satellite constellations, ground gateways, user equipment, orbits, and mobility events like handovers. - Designing engaging demo scenarios that simulate the system’s dynamic behavior and provide intuitive insight into network performance, reliability, and coverage patterns The skills you bring: - Basic understanding of wireless communications (4G/5G) and non-terrestrial networks. - Interest with network monitoring concepts and tools (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar). - Familiarity with remote access and data extraction methods - Experience with version control and collaboration platforms (Git/Gitlab, or similar). - Interest with 3D game engines (Unreal, Unity, Godot, or similar) for creating digital twins. - Qualities of fast learning, critical thinking, autonomy, and teamwork. - Willingness of working in an inclusive, multicultural team environment. - Fluent English language skills in both writing and conversation. - French language skills are a plus.
